SALISBURY, N.C– Bottom Dollar Food customers have the opportunity to help alleviate hunger in local communities by participating in the discount grocer’s 2012 “Hunger Has a Cure” program through Dec. 25. The campaign supports local food banks affiliated with Feeding America®, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief charity.
“Our Bottom Dollar Food customers make a tremendous impact in the lives of local needy families by providing food through the ‘Hunger Has a Cure’ campaign during this time of the year,” said Sherrii Webb, community relations manager for Bottom Dollar Food. “We invite our customers to again help us fight hunger in our markets by participating in this year’s program.”
The ready-made food boxes contain five items of private label product and they are available at all Bottom Dollar Food stores for $4.99 each, where supplies last. All stores will have a designated food collection area where customers can place the food boxes or other non-perishable items. Customers also have the opportunity to give cash donations at the register.
Through efforts such as this, Bottom Dollar Food raises community awareness of hunger needs, funding for food banks and contributes approximately 200,000 pounds of food donations annually to Feeding America.
